Kokoda Trek - 11-24 July 2010

Getaway Trekking is proud to be associated with the Bionic Ear Foundation and will contribute 10% of our trek fees from this trek. Hendy O'Toole, who is an active member of the Lions Club of Croydon, approached us to discuss her dual goals - to trek Kokoda and to raise funds and awareness for the Bionic Ear Institute.

Charity Treks

Over the last 13 years, Getaway Trekking has supported many organisations by facilitating and leading charity treks to various destinations around the world. We've supported ovarian cancer, leukaemia, breast cancer and prostate cancer. We continue to support an orphanage in PNG, and are currently exploring the need for mammogram machines in PNG. Australians live in the best country in the world, and are privileged to enjoy a high level of health care. Unfortunately, the same does not apply in many developing nations, of which Papua New Guinea is one.

Trekking has good synergies with many charities as the very activity can provide an empathy with those who find life difficult, whether this be physically, emotionally, psychologically or socially. It doesn't take long to think of many very causes worthy of a charity trek. In addition, many people find that their fund raising efforts are rewarded by their friends and family wanting to support their own efforts.

Getaway Trekking will contribute 10% of fees towards the charity of your choice.
