This relaxing 4 night tour takes you out into beautiful Milne Bay. You will enjoy your own waterfront bungalow at Driftwood Resort, two fishing trips and an Alotau Town or War History Tour. You’ll never want to leave!

Day 1

You will be collected from Gurney Airport at Alotau and taken to your accommodation at Driftwood. As your package includes 2 day’s full meals, you may wish to dine at Driftwood’s open air jetty restaurant tonight.

Day 2

Located on the southwest coast of Milne Bay, the Sagari River and its tributaries flow through pristine mangrove forests into an impressive body of water known as Mullins Harbour.
These waters hold some top class sport fish, the most prized being the barramundi and the legendary papuan black bass. Other fish found in these waters include mangrove jack, fingermark, trevally, queenfish, barracude, cod and shark. The area is also teeming with mud crabs, so it’s worth throwing the pots in before each fishing session.
Fishing out of 19ft banana boats, we use shimano rods and reels to cast, troll and live bat for these fish.
Leaving Driftwood early you will travel through rainforest, villages and oil palm plantations, giving you a snapshot of local Milne Bay life. Then it’s into the boats to start fishing Sagari and the surrounding creeks and tributaries.

Day 3

Today’s expedition begins from Driftwood wharf where we travel out of Milne Bay to various fishing grounds. Our destination for the day will depend on conditions and the time of year. We can expect to encounter species such as sailfish, spanish mackerel, wahoo, giant trevally, barracude and various tuna species including dogtooth and yellowfin tuna. Reef fish that you will encounter are coral and coronation trout, red bass, red emperor and sweetlip.

Day 4

After your efforts of the last two days, you will enjoy relaxing at the resort today. You have the choice of an Alotau Town Tour or a War History Tour. Milne Bay was very important in the Papuan campaign – this was the first land defeat of the Japanese in WWII.

Day 5

Your Driftwood hosts will transfer you back to Gurney airport for your onward flight.
