We take you right into the heart of the mountains. The walk starts from the low land and winds its way up to outstanding high mountains offering breathtaking views of the Annapurna range. The trek takes you to 4130m, where you are surrounded by soaring Himalayan peaks. We experience an uninhabited wilderness area that is part of one of the Worlds classic walks.

How difficult is this Trek?

Annapurna Base Camp trek is suitable for any walker looking for something a little more challenging and energetic. It does not require you to be super fit or have any previous trekking/mountaineering experience; however, a moderate level of fitness is beneficial. A pre-trip fitness campaign is recommended, as you will enjoy the experience much more. You must be in good physical condition and be able to hike for 4-6 hours over hilly terrain with a light daypack.

Getaway Trekking will assist you in preparing for your journey. We will help you develop the required fitness and instruct you in the selection of the correct equipment and clothing.

General Itinerary

Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1345meters)

Our Airport Representative will meet you and arrange for your transfer to hotel by private tourist vehicle.

Day 02 Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley (B)

A relaxed breakfast before commencing your sightseeing tour by private vehicle, with your own professional tour guide. We will visit Pasupatinath Temple, Buddhanath, Monkey Temple, Bhaktpur, Durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Day 03 Kathmandu to Pokhara by private tourist vehicle (B)

After an early breakfast, our bus will collect us for the journey to Pokhara. After the 7 hour journey, we will arrive in Pokhara early afternoon, in time for you to look around this lovely town.

Day 04 Drive to Nayapul (1010meters) by private tourist vehicle, and trek to Tikhedunga (1570meters) 3 hours (B,L,D).

We begin our trek at Nayapul after 1 hour driving from Pokhara. After 15 minutes short walk along the bank of the Modi Khola, we reach Birethanti (1015meters) a large village that has many shops and teahouses. From there, the trail continues through the village. The trail follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. From there, the trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille at 1495m and after the short climb, we reach Tikhedhunga at 1570meters. Today’s walk offers a short and relatively easy day, during the journey which allows us to become used to the experience of trekking in Nepal.

Day 05 Tikhedunga to Ghorepani (2840meters) 5 hours (B,L,D).

Leaving Tikhedunga, we begin our journey with a steep climb to Ulleri. Ulleri is a large Magar village at 2070 meters. The trail then continues to ascend more gently, through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti at 2250 meters. Then we trek towards Nangethanti at 2460m. After an hour of walk this brings you to Ghorepani at 2840meters.

Day 06 Early morning hike up to Poon Hill (3210meters) and trek to Tadapani (2610meters) (B,L,D).

Today, very early in the morning, we start an hour hiking to Poon Hill at elevation of 3210 meters, a brilliant spectacle; this vantage point provides an unobstructed view of sunrise over the high Himalayas. We spend about 1 hour before returning to Ghorepani where we take a hot breakfast. We then trek to Tadapani (2610meters). Before starting towards Tadapani, we climb along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2960meters). After that we descend to the Banthanti, and then turn off to Tadapani.

Day 07 Tadapani to Chhomrong (2140meters.) 5 hours (B,L,D).

The day starts with steep downhill through rhododendron forests. Leaving Tadapani, we descend steeply through forests and then the trail eases as we reach Gurjung which is the village of Gurung people, with an easy walk to Chommrong at elevation of 2140 meters.

Day 08 Chhomrong to Dovan (2500meters) 5.30 hours (B,L,D).

Today the trail drops down to the Chhomrong Khola and again we continue climbing to Khuldighar at 2380meters. There is a clearing in the forest a little further on offering spectacular views. From here the route goes very steeply down a bank of rock and then levels out, running through thickets of bamboo at the bottom of the gorge, keeping always on the west side of the river.

Day 09 Dovan to Deurali (3200meters) via Himalayan Hotel (2900meters). 4 hours (B,L,D).

We have a short walking day due to altitude and the risk of snow avalanche in the area that we need to cross in the next morning. Our day begins with the climb through bamboo, then rhododendron forests to Himalayan Hotel and on to Hinko cave. The accommodation will be in Deurali, on the ridge above Hinko It is this stretch of trail that is most subject to avalanche…

Day 10 Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4130meters) via Machhapuchhare Base Camp (3700 meters) 5 hours (B,L,D).

Today the trail climbs on past the Machhapuchhare Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp We are totally surrounded by mountains in an area known as the Annapurna Sanctuary. Two hours trek from Machhapuchhare Base Camp take you to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at elevation of 4130 meters. Here, you will view spectacular mountain scenery.

Day 11 Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2345meters) 6 hours.

We follow the same trail down today the trail drops down by 1700 meters to the bank of Modi Khola to Bamboo at 2345meters

Day 12 Bamboo to Jhinu hot spring (1780meters) 5 hours (B,L,D).

We follow the same trail to Chhomrong then on to Khuldighar. As we wind through rhododendron and bamboo fields. From Chhomrong the trail descends very steeply to the Jhinu hot spring, where we can take a well deserved dip.

Day 13 Jhinu hot spring to Sarankot (1650 metres) 6 hours (B,L,D)

Today is our second last day of the trek. The trail descends to the right of the Modi Khola for 4.30 hours relaxing walking to Birethanti Upon reaching Nayapul we take a bus to Sarankot. This tiny town provides you with the best sunrise and close views of many mountains like the Annapurna range, Dhauligiri, Fishtail including views of the beautiful Pokhara valley and Fewa Lake.

Day 14 Sarankot to Pokhara (900meters) (B)

From Sarankot we walk steeply down then we take a bus back to Pokhara. In the afternoon we have a sight seeing tour around Pokhara Valley, which covers Fewa Lake, Devi’s water fall, Museum, Tibetan refugee settlement and Gupteshower cave etc.

Day 15:- 25 minutes fly back to Kathmandu (1345meters). (B).

Overnight back at the hotel in Kathmandu. There is an option here for people to continue on to Chitwan National Park, This tour should be booked prior to leaving Kathmandu.

Day 16:- Transfer to international airport for your final departure.

Last opportunity to shop in Kathmandu. Getaway Trekking Airport Representative will drop you at the Kathmandu international airport for your flight departure from Nepal.
