Kilimanjaro. The very name is a magnet for adventure travellers from around the world. For many people, a trip to climb Mt Kilimanjaro is a trip of a lifetime.

The highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world, Kilimanjaro rises in breathtaking isolation from the surrounding coastal scrubland to an imposing 5,895 metres. ‘Kili’ is a trek that is both magnificent and spectacular; ranking as one of the greatest outdoor challenges available.

Mount Kilimanjaro to some, means Mountain of Light or Mountain of Greatness but by any name, it is a metaphor for the striking beauty of Africa. But aside from the stunning views, range of vegetation and the challenge of the climb, Kili also retains a mysticism that will captivate you as you undertake your journey.

Take a tour through a wide range of climates as you ascend Kilimanjaro. We will start on cultivated tracks before travelling into the lushness of montane forest, home to elusive elephant, leopard, buffalo, and the endangered Abbot’s duiker. The next part of our journey takes us into the moorland zone, filled with giant heather and lobelias. Above 4,000m, altitude begins to make a significant impact on vegetation, and we find outselves in the surreal surrounds of an alpine desert, supporting not much more than a few hardy mosses and lichen. And then we reach the ice and snow that signals we are at the roof, revelling in the magnificence of the African continent.

After the challenge and rewards of climbing Kili, why not spend some time in this magnificent country, experiencing the majesty of African wildlife. An African Safari is an unforgettable travel experience, touching something deep within; this is an experience that will never be forgotten. Your safari will be both intriguing and exciting, showcasing the fascinating balance between the wildlife, the landscapes and its people. Witness the wildebeest migration through the Serengeti; watch families of elephants cross wild rivers; and prides of lions relaxing on the grassy floor of the majestic Ngorongoro Crater.

One-quarter of Tanzania’s surface area has been set aside for conservation purposes, with the world-renowned Serengeti National Park and Selous Game Reserve the major part of protected areas that collectively house an estimated 20 percent of Africa’s large mammal population.

Our 7 day trek to the summit via the very scenic Machame Route provides reasonable steps in altitude for acclimatisation. Following our Kilimanjaro Trek, our optional 5 day safari with luxury tent accommodation will providing a relaxing finale.
